To travel or not to travel…

To travel!

The answer is always to travel. The thought of traveling can be scary. It’s one thing to daydream about embarking on some grand adventure, but it’s another to actually do it. Traveling requires boldness, a boldness many wish they had but for one reason or another keep making excuses. So for all those who need a little nudge in the traveling direction here is a little list on how traveling can improve every aspect of your life. (Not to mention make you way cooler than everyone else)

.

🗺 Traveling maximizes your brain's neuroplasticity.

With the monotonous routine of our everyday lives, our brains tend to go on auto pilot. The brain has no need to grow or better itself so it literally begins to decay. Good thing for us it has been proven that people who travel are far less likely to develop cognitive decay. Going to an unfamiliar place and experiencing new things wakes our brain back up and requires those neurons to start “firing” again.

🗺on the subject of how traveling makes you smarter.

Traveling gives you a well rounded education providing lessons in History, geography, language arts, sociology, mathematics, economy and politics just to name a few. It is through hands on learning that we grow from being learned to having knowledge.

🗺Travel also Enhances Your Creativity

Traveling aids in abstract thought. It forces us to see how other people do things. It changes our mind from a 2d way of thinking into 3d. Then we cart that view into other aspects of our lives.

🗺 Traveling Improves Your mental Health

In today’s monotonous society it’s far too easy to become stuck in a rut. Studies have proven even the mere act of planning a vacation can break negative cycles and triggers a release of dopamine which is critical to combat depression.

🗺 Do it for your heart

Not only does traveling reduce the amount of mental stress in your life but it also reduces the physical stress on your heart. Studies have shown women who took at lease 2 vacations a year showed significant reduction in heart attack. And men who took at least 2 vacations a year have a 70% less likely to develope heart disease.

🗺 Travel broadens our horizons.

Travel provides new insight people and other cultures. We tend to believe what we are told about how others live, which unfortunately can develop a stereotypical view. It is only by going and being amongst others we see how they really live. We experience their culture, taste their food and talk to them. We gain a whole new outlook on people. A better understanding of our world.

🗺 Travel connects us.

I’m a world where social distance is the norm and social media has replaced the need to physically see each other travel is a tool to correct that. We are social creatures and as such we need social interaction otherwise we stay stagnant (see brain decay above). When you travel you are forced out in the world. You have to actually see new people, talk to them, ask them questions and learn from them. Often while traveling you meet life long friends you would have never met otherwise.

.🗺 travel for your soul

When you feel good mentally, and physically, educate the mind and look forward to the future it has no choice but to effect your soul. There’s a reason behind John greens famous quote “you have to get lost before you can find yourself”. Travel provides the opportunity for new experiences and it is only through experience we grow.
