Was Einstein Right? Have We been Able to Time Travel this Whole Time!

Have we had the tool needed for time travel this whole time?𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐄𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭❓ 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞❓

𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲? In his Theory of Special Relativity Process, Einstein believed time is relative, that it is contingent on the observer in relation to the speed of light. Other 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹. For most of us I think its safe to say that time is linear. Despite how much we want to, it only moving forward. However, for the laymen 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. It doesn’t require all the fancy math and gadgets and it might not let you change the past, but it does open a window to view it.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝘀𝗸?Well its a map! Historic maps have the ability to suddenly transport you to a different time and place. As you look and study an ancient map it begins to come alive. You are mentally transported to its boarders and you suddenly find yourself imagining what the landscape looked like. You can see yourself walking down the ancient cobblestone streets and the kinds of people you would meet. Since maps have the ability to show us the language that they spoke, it’s as if you can almost hear it, their accents, their dialect. You can imagine it all, as if they were right in front of you. Then you look up and see the whole area. It leaps off the 2d page and you are transported into the 3d past of our ancestors. You begin to smell the sweet smell of the lechem (bread) baking from the shops, the familiar smell of the embers burning from the houses. You feel the cool breeze on your face and the rich silk of the textiles against your skin. 𝗬𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. You start to read the hand written excerpts that the ancient Cartographer left for you and it allows for first hand experience of their customs and you learn from their ancient knowledge. Then you take this new wisdom and you compare it to your own understanding of the world. You return with a new found respect of the past and a new outlook on life.

Maps open a window to a past that would otherwise be lost. So much more than longitude and latitude maps create a picture. A still in time of how things were. It is by understanding the past we broaden our current horizons. But more than just a still in time, 𝗺𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. They provide the base but allow for your imagination to fill in the details with wonderment. So if you are a history nerd like me go grab a map (or even better some map art from our store) and travel through time.
